About Roma ...
Roma Girls Secondary School is a Catholic Girls School based in Lusaka, Zambia. Founded in 1953 by the Sisters of Charity, at a time when the education of girls was not the done thing. Girls were to be married and have children and be wives! The sisters set out to fight this, against all odds and since then the school has produced successful professional women located across the globe in Africa, Europe and America. Up until recently Roma Girls was mainly a boarding school with a small number of day scholars. Today the school runs as a day school having converted former dormitories into much needed classrooms. Running the school continues to be a huge struggle even today, due to many barriers- poverty being the biggest. In spite of all this the spirit and dedication of the Sisters of Charity keeps the school going.
