Helping Roma Girls

Eroga is active in keeping the link with Roma Girls and supporting the school in various ways. The School is currently involved in building a new classroom block, which EROGA is trying to actively support through fundraising activities. Sister Kierran has recently returned from her holiday in Ireland invigorated and determined to get the new classrooms up and running! We all know how full of energy Sister Kierran is - but none the less your support for this project would be really appreciated.

Tree Planting at Roma

A commemorative Tree planting event took place on the Roma Girls grounds. Planting the tree is the then Minister of Education with one of the EROGA, Zambia committee members. In the background watching are the former chairlady of Eroga, Zambia - late Noreen Katimbe and Sister Kierran.

EROGA Empowerment Fund

In April 2006, EROGAN's were alerted about difficulties faced by 20 pupils at Roma Girls. The girls were identified as being vulnerable and at risk of having their education disrupted because of problems with school fees. Most of these girls are orphans, part of a tragically and disproportionately high number of children in Zambia left parentless. Their plight touched the hearts of EROGAN's in S. Africa, UK, USA and Zambia who rallied round offering sponsorship of school fees for the list of 20 girls. Generous amounts of money were individually pledged and sent to Zambia from EROGAN's in the States, S.Africa and UK. It was from this, that the EROGA Empowerment Fund was set up - to empower the girls and others like them.

EROGA groups worldwide have set up bank accounts to receive donations either as monthly standing order payments or as one off donations. If you would like to find out how to make a donation please send an email to one of the following Erogans:

UK - Diana Wesa Budd S. Africa - Cecilia Inambao Chinga
USA - Daphne Kapilikisha Harrison Zambia - Kabui Mutti Mpolokoso

Memorial Mass Services

A memorial mass is held in November every year at the Roma Girls School Chapel, in memory of Roma Girls who have sadly left us over the years. We celebrate the life they were given and remember the good times, fun and laughter we had in their company at Roma.

Roma Girls Memorial Mass

Offertory at one of the memorial mass services. Seen in the offertory procession photo are Ms Nkweto Luo, the late Mrs Muwowo (mother to Erogans Prisca & Martha) and ba Vicky Mambwe (in green outfit)
